Fondazione seminare il futuro
SIF
Fondazione Seminare il Futuro was established in 2019 on the initiative of four important organic realities, not only Italian, to select seeds and varieties suitable for organic and biodynamic agriculture. Fondazione Seminare il Futuro works to safeguard and select varieties that are 100% suitable for organic farming, able to grow without the use of synthetic chemicals input, and able to adapt to the different soil and climate conditions that characterise Italy.
The constitutive partners are half foundations, the Free Anthroposophical Rudolf Steiner Foundation and Fonds für Kulturpflanzenentwicklung, and the remaining half two italian commercial companies, Cooperativa Girolomoni and EcorNaturaSì, which have always promoted healthy organic and biodynamic agriculture. The seed is the starting point of an agricultural ecosystem.
The Foundation aims to select new varieties for organic and biodynamic agriculture and to promote organic breeding in Italy. Other objectives of the Foundation include preserving biodiversity and making it available to all interested parties.
Fondazione Seminare il Futuro carries out its selection work at the CIRAA - Agro-Environmental Research Centre Enrico Avanzi of the University of Pisa. The work of selecting potential new lines is carried out with the participation of farmers both at the experimental fields and through varietal trials carried out directly at organic and biodynamic farms.
